Mongoose conversion

I just bought this Mongoose. It is missing the rear brake cable, but I rode it a little bit anyway. I really like it. What else , besides some pavement friendly tires, and working rear brakes, would I need to hit the road on it? Anybody on here converted one like it? Thanks.

That's an odd choice to convert for street use. If it didn't weigh so much, I would suggest swapping the cassette out.

After riding it around a little more I think I should keep it as is, with the needed repairs, for any off road riding that I might want to do. You're right , it probably would not be the best choice for a conversion.Thanks.
