Yes, sadly that's ice with snow on top of it. The good thing about Southern CO. is that the snow doesn't stay on the roads for long. Now many of the rail trails in Denver are actually "plowed", alas, that doesn't happen here in Colorado Springs.

So we do more riding the "bike lanes and old streets that are still marked as bike routes" in the cold months, (Nov-March). Some the the "concrete" trails melt fairly quickly but you have to be careful in the underpasses, bridges and any shady spots for ICE!
