Trek 7.7 FX

Hi:
Does anyone own one of these bikes...or taken one for a ride? I have a 7.3 FX and am considering upgrade to the 7.7 since it is lighter and seems easier to ride. Would it have more usable gear combinations since there are only two front gears......that would help avoid cross chaining? Thanks!!

Still have it. I even pulled it out of the barn a while back to borrow its front tire until a replacement came in. Still looking new if you're interested in her.

Hi: Thanks for the reply. I am considering buying a 7.7, but probably will not pull the trigger on my purchase for another month or two. Can you tell me how much the bike weighs? Thanks!

I don't know the bike but my guess it's a compact double you are refering to.
In that case the bike would have a reasonable gear combination depending on your fitness vs terrain.
As for the cross chaining, you will still have it to some degree, just not so much. I use a triple on my hybrid which is great for casual mountain roads, and compact double on my road bike when riding for fitness or with groups.

I can't remember exactly, but it seems like it was 20 pounds with pedals and seat bag attached. I took it out for a test spin around the neighborhood again just to see the difference between it and my other hybrid and it smokes the other one. It is probably a better hill climber for me than my Domane.
