If I were to try and use my hybrid on a MTB trail I'd just stop at the LBS on the way home and drop the wheels off to be trued. The hybrid wheels just can't take it.

Hybrid

Buying Fugi Absolute 1. Read that it is 'upgradable.' Can you explain (with examples) upgradable to what? Can I convert the Hybrid (Absolute) to a full Mountain bike by changing the wheels? Can I change the hybrid to a pure road bike by changing the wheels? Thanks

I allso have an Absolute 1.0 on order but I have not seen anything that said upgradeable. My thinking is, it is closer to a flatbar road bike with the gears it has like a newest 2.0. Well that is what I am planning on useing it for a road bike with an up right riding position. Thay are telling me this week but it will proably be longer. With the weather (snow & cold) we are having I have not put many miles on the Quick 6 that I am rideing now

Maybe Mr Hack will see this and chime in,he seams to have some good info.

I would consider my bike a Hybrid, it's a mtb thats been refitted for road use. But still very well capable for light trails.

A mountain bike is just horrible on the road. The hybrid is quite potent there if you are a commuter and not a pro-racer.

The hybrid may also handle mountain terrain as long as we don't go too far. Personally I do (overdo it) I take it to real trails where real mtbs start to worry. Appart from the tyres I find nothing to worry about. I wouldn' t compete in an mtb race, but I can still enjoy the trail. I will be replacing tyres soon to deal with the front wheel slipping sometimes.

In my opinion I don't need to buy 4 bikes to make sure I can enjoy riding.
