Finally In The Market For My First Set Of Tires
I'm in the market for the first time for tires. The size I need is 26X2.0. I'm going to bicycle shops and doing searches on Google to compare. My riding is on paved trails only. While there are so many brands and types I like the Serfas Drifter city bicycle tire. Very affordable. I really don't want to go lower in width than what came with the bike. I like the 2.0. Also the first bicycle shop I stopped at to get prices told me the knobby tires make it harder to pedal on paved trails. Makes sense. I like Kenda tires, they offer a lot of tire for not a lot of money. I bought 3 pair of Kenda Konstrictors road that were on sale for $18 from $40, and those tires are superior to Conti GP4000's I had prior! Then I bought a single Kenda Kwest which looks just like the K838 tire for the mountain bike tire and that darn tire won't wear out and have yet a get a flat after 4,000 miles.
Shin tires are junk, I bought a used 85 Schwinn Le Tour Luxe and the owner replaced the factory original tires with the Shin's...I thought the rims were out of true, I take the bike home and go to true the rims, the rims were spot on-the tires were not! The Shin's are lasting, but their a cheap tire that I will be getting rid of this spring even though their still good for at least another 2,000 miles.
The Conti is a cheap Conti, that particular model won't hold up well, better then the Shin but not as good as the Kenda.
The Schwalbe is a great tire, it's along the lines of the Kenda, a tough durable long lasting tire.

Please don't take this as an insult, it's not meant to be by any means. You need to at some point soon to learn how to mount and dismount tires, and to patch a leaking tube. There should be no reason for a person who cycles as a hobby to at least learn how to put on/take off a tire and fix a leak. It's kind of like the hobby of fishing, you take your rod and reel down to the stream but once there you get into the car and go to a bait store to have the worm put on, then go back to the lake, only do go back to the bait store when the worm comes off the hook. A hobby of always having to that would get wearisome after awhile. I wish we knew each other and lived close by because I would gladly teach you how to do the tire stuff...and I mean that sincerely!! You really don't want to be out on a trail or path and have a problem with a tire without knowing how to fix it. There are probably at least several dozen You Tube videos that show you how to put tire on and take them off, how to fix flats from taking the tire off to fixing the tube to putting back on again. Watch those videos a bunch of times then practice, practice, practice. In fact instead of spending the $12 to have someone do it, watch those videos and try it yourself, it's not difficult. My brother was 3 years older then me, he taught me how to fix a flat when I was 8 years old! If an all thumb 8 year old can learn to fix a flat you can too!!

I enjoy the work I do but I wish it was less. That's for sure. Thanks for your posts everyone.
