I just added three new lines (for a total of five) to my TMobile plan, and switched from Win Mobile to a Java platform. Not ready to drop a bundle on the iPhone with a wedding coming up in 3 months, 1 day, and 15 hours...

That's a good tip Industry Hack. I never thought of getting a heart rate monitor but that would provide some insight about my fitness level. I know I definitely need to improve my cardio level and get my weight down.

So what is a good frame type then for fixed gear bikes? I thought bigshotbikes have pretty nice frames but some people disagree. How do you know what's good? I'm pretty new to biking and I really don't know.

Those are hi-ten steel. You can get cro-mo and save over $100 by getting a Windsor The Hour from Bikesdirect.com.

Well my guess I will throw out my advise but then again free advise is worth what you pay for it. Most of the early must haves you already have. For me personally I would carry the stuff to make many of the road side repairs, especially flats. A pump alone is not enough. Have some patches, and better yet a spare tube or be in a position to walk the bike home. I would add a master link to the kit, just in case. IF something were to cause a chain to break, these are light weight and can be done roadside to get you back on your way.

As far as the other stuff, ride and see what you need. When you feel a need for more information, more comfort, more endurance ect then go fill that need. I spent the money for cycling shorts, but I haven't bought the jacket yet. I do have one or two shirts, but I often just ride in a tee shirt if it isn't that bad. I carry some energy gels, and got the insulated water bottles. Why? In Texas in the summer time, ice in a drink bottle is good for maybe 20 mins. I have the basic cycling computer, but a gps is next on the list when I find the right deal. Yet what you need, you really aren't sure to you ride a bit. Good luck and have fun
