I was thinking about the Shimano PD-a530 pedals, clipless and platform both. And hopefully installing carbon fork, seat post, stem and handlebar in the near future. Though i have heard carbon components are prone to cracking and arent as durable as alloy.

Hi Fez,

Unless you are a light to medium weight guy I wouldn't personally recommended 25 width tires for unpaved, I prefer 32 or 35. There are some nice all purposes tires that can handle both paved and unpaved in a 35, such as the Vittoria Randanouer.
As for the pedals the a530s are great, I got a set last December and love them. Only thing though is I found that once I got used to clipless I never used the platform side again.

Lock! Don't forget a lock! I bring mine inside at night and never leave it without locking it. IMHO cables are ****, go with a good quality U-lock. If your going to be leaving it outside unattended for long periods of time, i.e. commuter, maybe think about locking skewers for the tires and seat post as well. Congratulations. Great looking bike.

Simon, i am 6ft 195lbs. no idea if you would classify that as a medium or heavy weight guy.
My bike came with the 32s, but in order for me to increase my speed i was told i need aggressive tires. hence im inclined towards the 28. 99% of my riding is on the road, but I do hit some rough patches (grassy, dirt roads) here and there. Not off-roading by any means.
I have heard great things about the a530s. I think i'll make a move on those.

My bike is my baby, I think my girlfriend is getting a little jealous since i seem to be spending more time with my bike than her. And it doesn't help that i'm sleeping with it in my bedroom. A U-lock is definitely on my list.
