I can just imagine that biking now the trails must be absolutely beautiful.

Are you contemplating a road bike in the future or do you think you will stick with off-road bikes.

I might suggest you consider subscribing the Bicycling.com daily email. When I was getting back into biking last year. I found this to be one of the best source of information - from bikes, maintenance, health, technique, clothing, etc. About five or six articles each day, taken from the print mag and other mags. Highly recommended. (and no connection

Hi Chuck!

I have never seen a place as bike friendly as Fort Collins. I grew up in a small town in Alabama. No bike lanes and the only trails were illegal dirt bike trails that only us crazy 10 year olds on Walmart Huffys and Murrays would try pedaling and we somehow survived crash after crash with no serious injuries.

I do want to build a road bike. I say it may be some time, but honestly if I see the right project, I'll probably start on it sooner rather than later.

Congratulations on the baby glo. You might be too busy to work on any bike projects for awhile.

Sorry it's been awhile. Between our new baby and everything else it has been hectic around here. Despite so much going on, I haven't left the bikes alone at all. I actually have found myself fully addicted and have 14 bikes now at this point. Most of them still need work, but I have several now in great shape and ride almost daily. I try to find excuses to ride any chance I get lol.

The most notable additions are probably a Specialized Sirrus Sport that is pretty fast on the road for what I am used to and a classic Bridgestone MB-5 that is nearly mint condition besides a strange mod.. Someone had made an attempt to convert it into a single speed by removing the derailleurs, cables and shifters then changing the cassette to a single, but likely ran into issues with the vertical dropouts. So with the single rear and 3 on the crank, I put on a new chain, lightweight mostly carbon rear derailleur with no cable just for chain tension and a front derailleur, cable and friction shifter and now I have an awesome 3-speed! I'm told a 2-speed in the front is a dingle, not sure what to call this, but it is fun lol!

I also rebuilt an old Specialized Hardrock from the 80's for my wife. It was pretty much just a frame, but now it's complete and she loves it so now I'm getting her addicted to the bikes as well! I'll try to get pics when I get on the laptop tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing well!

Glo,

I noticed in an earlier post that you're in CO; do you mind me asking the name and location of your co-op? I've been thinking of brushing up on my mechanical skills, and a place like that sounds like a great possibility for making it happen.

It is the Fort Collins Bike Co-op located at 1501 N College Ave in Fort Collins. They are closed this week to move into the renovated building, but they will be open again Sunday and resume the normal hours of Sunday 12-6, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 2-5. It's an awesome place and the new building is going to be really cool and I am told one of the largest bike co-op's in the country.
