Actually I don't think this has strayed that far off. The OP got to see both sides of a disagreement represented fairly, and the discourse did not sink into something other than a discussion of the question at hand. Everyone made good points and the opinions were valid. It is likely that the OP probably got some things to think about that probably they had not considered, and as such what ever decision they reached hopefully it was a more informed decision. If they are still reading this, please chime in.

Just what you need, another 2 cents.
I was just in my local bike shop and the prices on 2011 left over road bikes was tough to pass up. New Cannondale and Giant road bikes for under $600. Free tune-ups twice a year for the life of the bike. Definitely worth checking...if you're still looking.

Well here's my .02 cents! I did not buy from my LBS but I did take my bike to them for a fit and go by and visit and buy stuff. Because they have treated me so well I will always pay them to maintain my bike and will buy my next bike from them. If you have a great shop they will treat you well because they know you will spend $ there in the future.
