Ok, so I'm heading on a 500 mile round trip tour coming up in June. I'm an avid bike rider, but this would be my first long distance tour.

I'm sure a lot of people might think this is a no brainer question, but I was wondering what bike would be better suited?

The first choice is a tricked out 26 inch fixed gear stretch cruiser, with ape hanger bars, and it looks, and fits similar to that of a chopper motorcycle.

The second choice would be a 26 inch all terrain 20 speed.

Also keep in mind I will be pulling a cargo trailer as well, and my route will be paved street, and paved bike trail, so a pretty smooth ride overall.

So, what advice would you give? Is it really just a matter of what I'm more comfortable with?

Your plan is to push up any hills if you choose option 1?

#2! While the chopper bikes look cool I couldn't imagine riding them long distances unless it's more like a recumbent. Like LDB said if you have any hills at all you'll want your gears.

Yes, for pulling a trailer on a 500 mile ride it would definitely be good to have the geared bike.

I'm uncertain if there would be any hills or not, but I would probably guess there would be at least some. Plus, I didn't really think about the added weight from the trailer, which would make it a little harder to use the cruiser.
