good explaination, now that you mentioned it i bought adapters that were too long also and
ground them down just like your shop did. I forgot about that. Never realized the difference

As far as i know there is only one type of presta valve, the shank style doesn't matter at all.
You may have broken the end while trying to fill it with the adapter, I've done that many

valve body doesn't matter, since the back one doesn't have the lock ring to hold it against the
rim when you apply pressure from the compressor fitting the stem slides down into the rim. All
