As Dean suggested in the newsletter, I like the idea of a thread here that we can post pics of our rides. A nice way to see where all around the world we enjoy our bikes.

Here is a pic from tonight's ride. This is very close to where I work and part of a usual after work loop. And yes, the weather was as nice as it looks in the pic. 72 degrees, clear skies, and winds of only about 10 mph.

This picture shows the fields where the Battle of Prairie Grove took place during the Civil War in 1862.

Got out for a road rde on the MTB today. Got rolling along seeing how everything felt and I looked up saw what I thought, in the distance, was a pack of dogs. I was like , oh this is just great! Out on MTB, still feeling a little under the weather and this! As it turns out it was a pack (is that what many goats are called ?) of goats that slipped under a fence into the road. Stopped and zoomed in to snap this and as soon I slowly approached they ran back into the field.

Headed down to the point and saw a few boats out in the Mobjack bay but nothing like I would normally see and you really can't see anything in the photo but it was nice down there today.

You missed a perfect opportunity for the newest fad - spontaneous roadside goat yoga.

Decided to solo downtown. Totally forgot my buddies who have a band were putting on a social distancing show on the downtown rooftop of another friends restaurant. Very cool. Had to stop by that mid ride.

So weird - normally Beale Street would be packed on a 65 degree spring afternoon.

I should have waited for tomorrow because today in this part of the south it was bad. Can't imagine what's up my nose and down my lungs.

The fans were gathering early for today's race.

It's unusual to see hogs along the trail unless it's before sunrise or sunset. These are fairly young hogs, not really old enough to be on their own. I was keeping an open eye out for mama sow while taking this photo from this close a range.

Why in the word are there hogs there???

Ya know spotting hogs while biking is considered good luck, it's supposed to be extraordinarily good luck if they chase you.
Didn't miss a beat with this one did ya? :D

That photo was taken in Flatwoods Park. It's in the middle of a wilderness area owned by the state. The hogs, along with all the other animals there, run free; it's their home. There are so many hogs in that wilderness area that the state holds a special two weekend hunt, in November, to thin them out. Because of the housing developments adjacent to the park, the hunt is done by a lottery, it's dogs only and you can only bring in one handgun. On those weekends, they close the park early and have the hunt until sundown. Since the land is protected from hunting, they are now starting to see an increase in alligators. Not sure if and how they plan on thinning them out.

I've read that feral hogs are a growing problem in much of the Southern U.S. Surprised to hear about the pistol requirement for hunting them in proximity to homes. I would think a shotgun might make a safer choice. I say that not to second guess, but curious about the logic behind the requirement.

You can only hunt them with dogs. Once the dogs get hold of the hog, you shoot it with the handgun. You’re not allowed to shoot from a distance or if the hog is mobile. They get roughly 350-400 hogs a year just out of this management area over the two weekends.
