Now that the National Bike Challenge is over, I thought I would start a thread to encourage people to continue to ride as much as they did while doing the NBC and show their results.

I'll start:

34 miles today. Good temps and humidity and a very crowded, but still flooded, MUP.

Great idea John aka The V. Yeah I made that up right now, super witty I am.

I was wondering where to report after the challenge.

Well today I was a voxic bike master. It may be due to the gym training or to the planet's alignment but it was my strongest ride to date. 37 miles of pure joy. Speed was there anywhere I wanted it. I was mostly pulling as the legs were just there. Did some sprints to close gaps and killed the two big hills with speeds in the mid 20s. I never swallowed wasps, the air was there. I am really proud of myself.

Thanks to all for the encouragent and the voxiness.

Oh dogs need to be locked up. A dude riding with us ate gravel when a dog ran out on the attack. He was ok, no road rash.

Inflatable pontoon bike. We can share the profits? What you say?
Works for me! ;) I was surprised to see how many people were riding through the brackish water that is over the bottom bracket rather than turn around and go back. Even though it's a one-way path, the rangers have allowed bike traffic to go both ways while the path is under water. I guess people just love cleaning and greasing bearings and chains after each ride. Not me!l

Yep. Rode into work this morning (21 miles) in 48 degree weather. We're to hit the 70s today but damn, to wear fall clothing already.... Lol. It was clear and the sun was making its way up and the moon was awesome to look at, as was Mt Rainier in the early morning light. I have another 23 miles to do to get back home.

Nope. I pushed too hard a bit too early toward the end of the Challenge and kinda burnt myself out. I lost a lot of mileage potential right at the end as a a result, and what I got hurt a lot more than it should have. I'm off the bike for at least today, maybe tomorrow, too

No shame in resting.

I've had motivation issues since being on vacation last week and today's forecast isn't helping any... 85* @ noon with a realfeel /heat nindex of 102? That's some brutal humidity...
May be another rest day. Or jump in a pool first. The humidity is always a killah here too.

I wasn't going to ride this morning and swap it with Tuesday as the no-ride day of the week. Wife wanted to go riding, so off we went. MUP was pretty crowded with this being a three day weekend for lots of people and the water had receded to make it passable. I got in a nice 31 mile ride, but my times sucked; 2:02:18. Too much slowing down for the runners and skaters. I love this place on the weekdays when I pretty much have it all to myself.

No ride today. Taking the wife to the airport for an unscheduled trip to Illinois to see her father, who is not doing too well. I might get a ride in this afternoon if it's not too hot out.

Got in 17 miles. Took a different route that took me to Dussen park then the lake. Got a nice panorama shot of it. One of my fastest if not the fastest solo speed average of 18.3 MPH. The heat, humidity, and wind were not that bad.

Each time I try to upload the pic it ceashest, nay be too large.

Short quick ride in Da Burg today. Showed up and there was a dozen JRVS ( James River Velo Club ) guys planning a 3 hr 22-24 mph avg ride. Not for me today! Myslef and 2 others did a quick 20. They had to labor today:) Certainly nothing spectacular today, been close to 2 weeks with out a road bike ride and only 1 MTB ride before vacation. The rollers on the Parkway got me :D

Sorry to hear this, John. Hope all goes well for your wife and her family.
Thanks Sixty! He needs to go for some rehab to build up his strength but he is refusing to go because the rehab is at the nursing home. My wife is going up there to talk him into going and to take care of some of his personal affairs.

Thanks to all for the well wishes for my father-in-law.

Boy! Did we have some awesome riding weather this morning. Temp at 7:00 AM was in the mid 70's and only got to the low 80's by the end of my ride at 9:00 AM. Humidity was very low, and most of the water at the MUP has receded, to make it a perfect riding day. I got my usual 30 miles in but could have done another 15 or 20 if I didn't have get some things done this morning. I shoot for a longer ride tomorrow.
