The Wabi Lightning is a unique bike in the world of fixed gears. With a weight of just over 16 lbs in a 55cm size (w/o pedals), it is the lightest fixed gear that I know of without spending a couple grand. But as impressive as the weight is, the ride quality is what's really note worthy. The scandium in the alu tubes allows thinner wall thicknesses, which, in addition to dropping weight also enhances the liveliness of the frame. Alu frames have a tendency to give a harsh ride, without the liveliness associated with steel frames. The Lightning achieves its better road manners using this tubing, in conjunction with a frame design that is based on traditional road racing geometry. So, you get light, fast, agile and comfortable- quite a nice combo.
