The eZip Trailz comes with a typical 16mph speed capability.
With a simple $20 upgrade I was able to push this to 20mph!
See - 20mph+ from EZIP 24 volt OEM pack!
Having surpassed this moderate speed, I have decided to increase my bikes capability.
While it does perform as an admirable eBike (electric Bike), (22mph motor only, with some assist to 25mph), I have decided to convert it to an eaBike (electric assist Bike).
By re-gearing the drive motor I will reduce torque ... but increase assist - right past 30mph.
Upgrading from a 9T, motor drive sprocket, to a 12T, I will have decent assist at 30mph, with some assist past 33mph!

Searched till I found a possible 12T item!

Most important ... the 11mm ID should fit perfectly.
"Spaces" might be easily modded to the 4mm needed, for the "key".
Small file work might suffice?
Probably easier to modify "key".

Projected "no load" motor speed will be 33.3mph.
Placing , my target , 30mph speed (90% of no load speed), near the end of the effective power curve.

Received my 12T upgrade candidate.
The all important 11mm ID seems usable - 11.07mm - can't get much closer to perfect.

2 factors require modification.

1. Width of the body.
OEM is 9mm, the replacement is 12mm.

3mm removal with grinder seems easy enough.
Shaft is long enough to allow no mod.
But ... gauged resizing would allow precision sprocket alignment!

2. The inner shaft grooves are 3mm in width, the 4mm "key" requires a wider "keyway".http://www.twospoke.com/external-li...-sphere.com/forums/download/file.php?id=88599

Solution - rather than attempt an extremely difficult internal resizing of the sprocket, I will break out my dremel tool and grind the appropriate 1mm from one edge of the key.
Should be fairly simple to accomplish.

11T and 13T sprockets @ $18 each Plug-n-Play
13T requires longer chain.
Re-gearing the eZips-iZips

Much of the "upper management" is actively anti-eBike and hostile towards any mention of eBikes.

I have decided to ally with them and help rid this forum of those interested in, or in need of, electric assist.
There are much better forums for eBikers.
Most progressive seems to be endless-sphere.com they are the premier advocates for promoting eVehicle, including eBike, development. Bonus = no advertisements!!!
