Greetings to all, I am cultivating an infatuation with general leisure cycling; I possess a burning desire to get Bent on a budget. After relocating back to Southern Indiana from Florida, where I did some trail riding, I rode my ten-speed daily, for fresh air and exercise. That was over ten years ago and since retiring last year I have once again been bitten by the cycling bug.
Dear reader, I am in serious need of advice concerning recumbents. Being on a fixed budget I must make extremely frugal decisions concerning my choice of rides. I like to go fast from time to time, however I greatly appreciate comfort. I am leaning toward a LWB and $1200 to $1500 is about the upper limit of my initial purchase budget.
My first question regards under or over steering and would greatly appreciate comments concerning the advantages / disadvantages of both.
Next I wonder about the advantage of 26 x 26 inch verses 20 x 26 inch wheels. Thank you for indulging this old geek.

    Welcome to the forums.

I'm not that well versed in recumbents so I'm not much help there but please keep in mind that you'll need to budget for the things required to keep the bike up and running too.

    • Helmet
    • Chain lube
    • Air Pump
    • Spare tube(s) and/or patch kit

Good luck with finding a suitable ride!

Welcome to the forum. I don't know much, or really anything about recumbents, so I won't be able to help you in that area....but there are plenty of people on this forum that can. Hope you get all the answers your looking for.

I could tell you tons about over and understeer from a vehicle dynamics perspective, but that's not what you're looking for.

    Welcome to TwoSpoke!

I'm going to copy your post into the recumbent thread also.

    Steering OSS vs USS

Just a few words from an operational and/or comfort stand point would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your reply.
