2 miles into our ride (a buddy and I) in Seaford/Yorktown Va. we came to a light that was red, but when I was almost at a full stop the light went green and I stood up and gave a good push on the right pedal and snap the chain let go.
I was very lucky that I was not moving very fast and that the chain did not fly into the spokes and really tear things up. This was my first ever chain break and really caught me by surprise and had to check if I soiled my bibs...

The chain was a KMC dx10sc with around 1700 miles on it...

I went with the KMC over my older Ultegra 6600 and really liked the shifting and fell of the KMC. It will be either another KMC or an Ultegra 6701.

Going to drop by Conte's tomorrow and talk with Walter...

Hope you had the parts and tools to fix it and ride on.
Nope, not even a spare tube (forgot it).
I called my support team (wife) that was just down in Yorktown taking pictures.

I broke the same chain. The only chain I ever had break on me. Go figure. I gave this chain a negative reiew on another web site. I may have also posted a negative review on Nashbar where I purchased it.

Someone posted a new Shimano 6701 chain on CL for $25 so I jumped on it and love it...
