I'd be afraid to choke on the gob while riding. Most people breathe a little deeper and faster on the bike. Very easy to choke on normal food that is quickly chewed then gone. Let that gum play around too long, might need a thump on the back. Or worse.
I've used caffeinated and b-12 infused gums and you chew them a little while then tuck it in your lip and just cruise with it. It's hard to gauge what's enough and from experience you don't want to be to jacked up while cycling. It impairs your judgment.
