Does anybody know where you can purchase color spokes? Do you have to have them custom made or should I just paint them myself? I think it's really cool and I have a black bike with red graphics. I think red spokes would just complete it's look!
bmx spokes are easy to get nowadays in a bunch of colors from Primo, mtb and road spokes in different colors are difficult to find right now. Check your local shop and see what they can scrounge up for ya. black white and silver are the only common ones. I looked a few months back for mtb and road spokes in red and couldn't find anything except aero spokes wich are really expensive and require different hubs. You may find another supplier with a better option though. good luck
spray paint usually does okay, but it goes on so think you have to paint it after the wheel is assembled.
The only place I've found that has colored spokes is from ProWheelBuilder at CUSTOM HAND BUILT BICYCLE WHEELS Built By Professionals - Prowheelbuider.com. They come in a good selection of colors but only in 14g straight. This shop is located in Las Vegas, NV. I built a set of blue wheels with these spokes and they work great. I've had the wheels for about a year now with no trouble to speak of. Hope this helps.
Also, if you want to go with custom colors, find a powder-coating shop. They will do it fairly cheap (at least here). I had a friend get his spokes for his custom-motorcycle he built powder-coated, and they look great!
BTW, good to have you, Soupy.
