I also prefer the simplicity of a rim brake on a road bike, especially V-brakes, it is easy to maintain and repair, along with how easy it is to find parts anywhere. This type is also cheaper than the more specialized disc system. There are many articles that compared disc brakes vs V-brakes showing that disc brakes possess high braking power suited for mountain biking and competitive riding, but I will choose V-brakes for versatility along with ease of repair and maintenance.
