Schwinn Avenue Hybrid and one calpier arm on the rear of my "V" brake does not spring back after braking, hence I am dragging a pad. I released pich bolt tension and squeezed calipers together and reset tension and it looke good but, after one brake the right arm does not spring back from the rim. The tension screw is no help so I assume (always dangerous) that I need to rest the spring tension rod on the arm of the caliper that is not releasing. Am I thinking correctly?

I'm riding a Schwinn Trailways hybrid. I looked at my brake assemblies. There is a spring block mounted between the brake arms and the frame in the back and fork in the front. Projecting up from that spring block there is a spring rod running up the inside of both brake arms. This rod rests against a tab projecting out from the brake arm. It holds the brake arm away from the wheel. If this sounds like what you have make sure the spring rod is on the correct side of the tab(inside).
