I'm thinking about adding a mid-drive esystem to my old GT Karakoram mostly for hill pedal assist. As I get older I'm looking for less ride-related pain! I've looked at some systems, mostly by Bafang, but the install is way above my pay grade.

Does anyone know any shop or service that is willing to do this type of work?

I don't know of any in your area, but hope you can find something which works for you. My wife had a conversion done locally a couple of years ago and is happy with the result. Judging by what I see out on the trails, e-bikes will soon be more popular than 'normal' rides.

I'd check YouTube to be at least familiar with the process if I had zero wrenching skills, just so the guys at the bike shop wouldn't take you for a ride or do something which made the bike unrideable. Other than that it is really dependent on the shops in your area ... and which are still open.

I had put a Hilltopper conversion on my wife’s bike to help her with the hills and to get her back to the car when she was too tired to pedal. After she died and I started dating again I converted it back to a normal bike for my girlfriend.
