Had an accident earlier today when someone stepped in front of me and had to brake hard to avoid them, and with my left foot still clipped on to my pedal fell awkwardly into a bollard striking the left hand grip gear lever.
The lever is bent inward. (Picture below)
Is it difficult to put back to its correct position or is it a job for a cycle mechanic? I have pulled up the rubber sleeve cover but can't see any fixing screws for the lever.

To me, it looks like it rotated about where it clamps to the bar. Did you pull the boot back in this area to loosen the clamps and rotate it back out? That might also involve peeling some of the bar tape back there as well.
