Has anyone ever heard of these or seen one before?
Never seen or heard of it before. Moving stuff.
Thought at first glance I thought this thread was going to be about ghost riding a bike.
That's an awesome idea. It brings cycling safety to a visual presence that makes people notice it. Sad.
Spend enough time on forums, and you'll see those. As the admin on another site, I've had to report the death of way too many cyclists.
That's terrible Industry.
Al Wong. (He wasn't hit by a car, but still sad)
Rodney Pang. (Also not a car accident. My dad passed away in the same hospital only a few weeks later)
There are more, but that's depressing enough.
If you need to be cheered up now, read this: read this.
Pacific Coast -- Seattle to San Diego: A rather sad memorial to a fallen rider
this is one I saw on my west coast trip -- near Camp Pendleton CA
I can't remember the name of the Canadian kid that quit his job, and only made if partway across Canada before getting hit.
I read those man.Man.
There's a few I've seen around here.
One of them I go by every time I go to a certain art supply store. It's saddening.
Never seen them here, city is too anal to allow it, but have seen photos from other cities, heard the stories; there was a recent dust-up in DC about one as a memorial to a fallen cyclist taken out by a garbage truck; a local business -- just one -- complained about it, and the city removed it, causing a coalition of local riders to replace it AND add to it.
