GRAND AVENUE HISTORICAL BIKE TOUR THIS SATURDAY
The Oklahoma Bicycle Society will once again be sponsoring the annual Grand Avenue Historical Bike Tour this Saturday. This looks like a great chance to ride your bike and learn about local history at the same time! Maybe with enough participation this could turn into a series. Perhaps there could be historical architecture tours, trolley line tours, outlaw tours (both Machine Gun Kelly and Pretty Boy Floyd--not real pleasant characters but still a part of our history-- left their marks in OKC in the 1930's), You never know...

7TH ANNUAL GRAND BOULEVARD HISTORICAL BIKE TOUR
Have you wondered why there is a street named the Grand Boulevard that keeps popping up in various locations around OKC? 105 years ago OKC designed a series of parks and connecting loop roadway. Some of the boulevard has been taken over by interstates, but you can experience the entire 35-mile loop by bike.
Join me on Saturday, June 4th for the bike tour and historical lectures to tell you about the history of the Grand Boulevard. We will start at 8 am at Stars and Stripes Park – Portland at Lake Hefner, near the baseball diamonds. You can ride a 6 mile “sample” of the route, a 17-mile option, or the entire 35-mile loop.
There will be SAG support supplied by the South Side Rotary club, as well as lectures along the way to teach you about the boulevard.
Here is a link to the detailed map and ride info:

Thanks John from Pro Bike Inc. OKC for this info!
