Had new handles put on my bike this weekend. Went from size 40 to 44. What a difference they make. Breathing, shoulders and hands all are much better. Has anyone else experienced a big difference with new handlebars?

Not breathing wise but width wise as in reach comfort. I like 42cm bars and ride 56cm bikes. Cannondale outfits their 56's with 44cm bars so I have swapped out two bars myself already.

Sounds like you have found your sweet spot.

My Giant Defy came with standard drop bars. I had to eventually change the stem from a 110 mm to a 90 mm stem when I went from riding on the curve of the bar to the hoods and drops. When I got my Colnago, it came with compact bars and a 100 mm stem. The difference in the two bars was immediately noticeable, especially in the drops, and I didn't have to change the stem.
