When I lived in Australia, my Australian wife made a very good effort at her first Thanksgiving. She had been on the phone with my step-mum much more than usual, but I didn't think anything of it. So I come home from work, and there is a handmade "Happy Thanksgiving" banner in the dining room. Red, white, and blue, no less. Sure enough, we had green beans, yams topped with marshmallows, (they had never done that before, and found it brilliant) pickles, olives, potatoes, and even a turkey breast, which isn't exactly easy to find there. It was pretty special.
Our last Thanksgiving there, she waited too long to try to get a turkey breast, and we had Domino's pizza.
A happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Please do take a moment to remember all that you have to be thankful for. I know many of us take so much for granted.
