I just bought a 1998 Schwinn GSX Searcher; dark red color. It says "easy ride" on the back part of the frame. It's in mint condition with new tires. My first 'grown-up' bike. I had been riding a GT Robinson (bmx-style) bike until now. I love this bike! I've got bike fever right now; all I want to do is ride, but St. Louis weather is wet right now. :'( The bike's been thoroughly cleaned and the chain is bone dry. Does anyone know the ideal lubricant to use? Is 3-in-1 oil okay or should I use something else? cheers, Mike
Welcome to the forums! I suggest going to your local bike shop and getting some real bicycle chain lube. I like Rock-n-roll Wet Lube myself but whatever you can find should be fine.
thanks! i picked up some finish line dry lube from my local bike shop (trail blazers) and just finished installing a trunk (milk crate) on my bike. i can't wait to ride! i wish i worked closer to home so i could leave my car in the driveway.
