I just don't know how you could not love the 80's for rock-n-roll

Of those, I’ve seen the scorpions, loverboy and def leopard (x3) all in the US.

All good shows. The best Def L. show was the Pyromania tour.

Most recent was DL two years ago. Still a good show.

So ... I listened to some Joanna Newsom, including her latest double album .... interesting and mostly enjoyable but not quite Joni Mitchell .... but compared to the modern competition .... :D

I thought NIN's version incredibly well done and vastly depressing. Then I heard Cash's version. I love NIN, but ole Johnny straight up blows them out of the water on this one.

I think Johnny Cash's perspective changed greatly in his later life. You can certainly feel the emotion and conviction he sang that with.

I meant with regard to lyrical ability. Doesn’t get much better than “This was unlike the story it was written to be, I was riding its back when it used to ride me. And we were galloping manic to the mouth of the source, we we swallowing panic in the face of its force.”

    You might like Dirty Projectors.

The NIN was actually pretty good ... but Mr. Cash brings so much more pain and suffering and hard-won wisdom ......

I am always forgetting the proper spelling of "eclectic."

Might be a while mining that particular vein. Folky Talking Heads on Demerol?

Meh. Typical FM radio pop music :D

Weirdest part is that was all shot in Maine, most likely. Imagine some old Yankee hunters strolling past that video shoot .... some old guy who had never seen a llama ....

Thanks for pointing me at these folks ....

I had the great fortune to see this tour at Radio City Music Hall just three weeks after 9-11. It was a somber time, but you could get lost in the music.

    This sh!t is real.

    I, I'm a one way motorway
I'm the one that drives away
    Then follows you back home
    I, I'm a street light shining
I'm a wild light blinding bright
    Burning off alone
It's times like these you learn to live again
It's times like these you give and give again
It's times like these you learn to love again
It's times like these time and time again
    I, I'm a new day rising
    I'm a brand new sky
To hang the stars upon tonight
    I am a little divided
Do I stay or run away
    And leave it all behind?
It's times like these you learn to live again
It's times like these you give and give again
It's times like these you learn to love again
It's times like these time and time again
It's times like these you learn to live again
It's times like these you give and give again
It's times like these you learn to love again
It's times like these time and time again
It's times like these you learn to live again
It's times like these you give and give again
It's times like these you learn to love again
It's times like these time and time again
It's times like these you learn to live again

26 Dec. 0430 the phone calls begin. Coffee done, jump in the truck and deforest windows. Head down the road, plug phone in for some Spotify ( for an hour 1 and 15 minute drive to my first outage) and this is the first song to get me rolling! Fitting :D
