HI guys I have a very old bicycle in my shed, It has roller lever brakes and is all black, even the handlebars and brake levers. It has iirc 28 x 1 3/4 tyres and a sturmey archer 3 speed rear hub. The only identifying mark i can find is the spokes of the chainwheel seem to form the letter H.

Any ideas as to what make it is ?

It is in terrible condition at the moment but i do intend to restore it someday soon.

I will try and dig it out of the shed over the next few days and get some photos of it up

Kindest regards
Martin

Here are some pics

Right guys, after a fun filled hour or so battling the nasties in my storage shed i won and managed to get it dug out .

it has a sturmey archer 3 speed and the only number iu can see on the hub appears to be 142
it is on 28x 1/2 tyres not the 28x 1 3/4 i thought it was on

Without further ado here are the pictures

Any ideas as to what it is, and is there anything noticable missing
If you need any further pictures of specific items on it just shout

Kindest regards

Thanks sprocketgirl, I feel really guilty for letting it get so bad. I bought it about 15 years ago and rode it daily, then I put it in storage and it has really deteriorated but someday soon it will make a comeback....

Warmest regards

The closest I could find is the Hercules Popular, but they seem to be pre-date the three speed hub. That's a start for you.

[edit] The rear hub may have a date of manufacture. And if there is a head badge, that will tell you whether it was made by Hercules or Raleigh.
