Open Pro alternatives

    On my commuting bike I've got lovely 36h Superbe Pro hubs and Mavic Open Pro rims.

    I ride around 100 miles a week over pot-holed London roads. They've served me very well over the last 2 years but are nearing the end of lives. I'm sticking with the hubs and before I go ahead and get another set of Open Pros rims I was wondering if there were alternatives that i should consider.

    Would like to keep it cheap- up to £40 for each rim is my limit.

    Open Pros are hard to beat as all arounders. You could go a little more aero with the CXP 33 at about the same price. They are stiffer too but perhaps a bit harsh for commuting. Ambrosio make a great line of rims if you want to break the Mavic habit. They've been at it since the 30's and seem to know what they're doing. Take a look:

    If you want to keep the price down you can always keep an eye on eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace there's great stuff there and maybe over the course of the off season you'll snag exactly what you're looking for. Good luck!
