Thanks!

Here are some new pics of my ride around Mammoth Lakes on my birthday after the Ride of the Immortals.
Stunning photos!
I'd love to ride there.
Shoot. I'd love to sit on the side of the road and watch a sunset there.
Beautiful.

Too wet today. Rain just poured on.
I decided not to dirty the road bike and took out the MTB.
I just tooled around close to home.

Pics are:
* starting from side yard. Fog & rain
* Rhododendrons through bike frame.
* no squirrels in this weather. Lots of deer with bewildered stares.
* slippery single track.

As I slipped and squirmed along the wooded trail in the pouring rain, I remembered why I don't like to MTB alone.
It would be forever, before "They" would find me out here, if I knocked myself out. At least on the road, someone would pass by.
Of corse, in this weather, "they" probably would be the cause of a crash.

This morning's ride started out in the direction of a normal fortyish mile loop i do. For a change I decided I would ride it in the opposite direction.
Little did I know the treat I would be in for.

A road I had seen many times before looked oddly better from this angle, so I took it.

Although it had its rough spots, it turned out to be a jewel of a road and added 20 miles to my typical 40 mile loop.
I spent my morning riding along an old country Road with no traffic at all. To beat it all, this one lane road dumped out onto an even better two lane road.
Birds were chirping, the scenery was beautiful and not a car in sight. Shangri-La, indeed.

Pictures are:
* rainy, foggy mt. Cabin
*cool old soda truck. Has anyone ever heard of this brand?
* "new" one lane road.
*I must have been slow and looked weak, because the Turkey Vultures kept me company for a while.
* Shangri-La
* "The last covered bridge to service a United States Hwy."

Total ride = 62 miles and I never heard dueling banjos.
I did have to call work to say I would be working a different shift. Lol

The light was great today; maybe to make up for the wind :) Facing the end of a gravel road/hardpack section of the Cherry Creek South trail which connects two paved sections.
Newleaf,
I bet the wildlife is abundant on that trail.
It looks like it goes forever.

Thank you.
Tonight, it didn't take much to talk myself into stoping for a few pics. My body hasn't fully recovered from recent illness & is week AND it ended up being a beautiful evening.
I'm glad you enjoyed the pics.

I've been by this many times, but today it struck me as interesting.
You cannot tell by the picture, buy just left of the tree are dark, ominous clouds. I refused to turn back (lots of thunder storms lately) and was rewarded with a few cooling sprinkles and wonderful cloud formations all the way home.

Dos,

Neat shot of some nice looking greenhouses! Glad you didn't get dumped on by th rain. Any idea what they've got growing in there? Thanks for posting the pic.
They used to grow flowers & starter plants for gardens and sell to Lowes and other large chains. This area is now for sale. It wouldn't shock me if some Cheech & Chong wannabes have moved it.

Thanks for sharing the pics everyone.
Heck of a ride Xela!
Bragging rights for you and a big boost for the team.
I don't know about you, but I'll take the heat before a headwind anyway.
Awesome accomplishment.

Lots of climbs on this hot day.
Managed my third century today.
Somewhere around 6500 ft climbing.

The heat getting to me and a lack of proper hydration, I opted for a break at this park. Although not much shade, the rest was helpful to everything except my legs.
It was a good place to contemplate the ride and be thankful I'm not at work.

What a treat!
About 4 miles of rough road converted to babies rump. Sweet!!!!

Considering i almost cut the Ride short, due to the heat and lack of fluid, I'm happy with this ride.
I couldn't quit! This was my ride for Tour de Yellow Band.
