Can't speak for others, but I normally have my regular breakfast; a cinnamon raisin bagel with low fat cream cheese and a cup of coffee. Before I actually start a long ride, I take a GU Gel and take one every hour during the ride. On organized rides, I will eat a banana at the SAG stops, if they have any, or whatever they have. I keep the amount of what I eat down to a minimum.

Steel cut oatmeal, PBJ toast, hard boiled egg. You want things that are pretty easy to digest, and you want your last bite around two hours before you ride.

A little bit of fat and protein is good to keep you from absorbing your food to fast and spiking your blood sugar.

1 egg scrambled in a bowl
3/4 cup Instant Oatmeal
2 teaspoons of Vanilla whey protein
1 teaspoon of ground flaxseed
1 cup milk

Heat in microwave of 2 min 15 sec
Top with frozen berries and 1 TBLsp of Vanilla Yogurt

Sometimes I'll make a meal replacement smootie.
Both pre meals will last me up to 30 miles.

Anything over 30 I will take an energy bar or a PBH (peanut butter and honey) sandwich with me as well as some sport beans to much on.

Post ride: Chocolate Milk.
