Seeing as how I've upgraded nearly everything else on my bike, I think it's time for new wheels. Currently running on bontrager selects and would something that will be a noticeable improvement, the closer to $500 the better but I'm willing to save up and go as high as a grand.
As an all around great wheel I find it hard to beat the Ksyrium SSC SL. I have 2 pair of the earlier silver type, there are still some out there, one clincher set and one tubular. They are stiff and relatively light and semi aero. They just plain have a fast feel. I have not ridden the Bontragers you mention but I don't think you'd be disappointed with the SL's.
