Is there a way to take apart a Dura-Ace STI lever to service it? My right side lever vibrates noticibly on rough roads and I am starting to have problems shifting into higher gears. It's like the mechanisim isn't catching in there, somehow.

I usually don't have a problem diving in and disecting things, but I don't have the $ on hand to replace these if I screw them up.

    Any suggestions?

Hopeless! There are lots of tiny springs and what not inside... don't do it! Have your LBS clean and lube it. That'll probably help without costing too much.

Thanks for the insight. Unfortunately, I didn't have to take it apart. It took itself apart.

I am now in the market for a new shifter. I am debating on whether to bite the bullet and get something new, and upgrade the whole drive train while I am at it or troll ebay until I find a similar replacement.

Was that a 7400, 7700 or a 7800? (8,9 or 10sp) and was it the R or the L? They don't usually fall apart... scary
