What is the best thing you have found while riding a bike?

It's hard not to notice giant piles of free stuff on trash day sometimes! Just tie a rope to it and drag it home lol

Best thing I have found is a bone handled case X knife

The best thing that I've found was a GPS, but I found and returned it to the owner, so I guess that really doesn't count. The best thing that I found and kept was a Park CT-7 chain tool. Not sure why anyone would lug one of those around on the trail. The things gotta weigh half a pound.

When I was a kid my buddy and I used our bikes to cruise the highways and pick up aluminum cans. Also did a bunch of dumpster diving for cans we found all kinds of stuff in the dumpsters. But the most unique thing we found was while riding outside of town on a can collecting run. We came upon a pair of badgers that were hit by a car while having sex. They were hit by quite a few vehicles and not separated but just flattened out and dried up. We got a real kick out of it and our at age 14 our suspicions were confirmed, Sex was awesome. We knew that because they both had what looked like a smile on their faces.

I find Native American culture very interesting and I've found some really awesome arrowheads out in the hill country around the lake. Took them home, washed them off, and put them on display!
Sammie, you really should give them back to their people... that is where they should truly be displayed... you will feel better about it and the trail back to where they truly belong will be an incredible journey.

Just a suggestion.

As for things I have found, I must be ridin in the wrong places, mostly just trash I try to pick up a little every ride..I did find a leather backpack used for a baby's diaper supplies, no dirty diapers, but no ID, so couldn't return it, kept the backpack, but had no use for the baby stuff...
I need to find better places to ride, seems like I'm always lookin down, just ain't findin the good stuff, but I'll keep lookin.

Not me, but some guys i used to ride with actually found a dead body. It turned out it was a missing hiker that the search was terminated months before. They called the police and a full investigation was then in route.

If i remember correctly the hiker fell down the side of a steep bank (basically a cliff) and suffered numerous breaks. What happened from there no one really knows. They were riding a trail that is actually closed now (this was 10 years ago now) and took a rest break and spotted some bones sticking out of the fallen leaves. One of the guys went over to check it out and it turned out to be human remains. They were pretty shocked and freaked out. Luckily, they had cell coverage and immediately called the police. They had to get 4-wheelers to make it where the riders were. From there a full investigation insued and luckily foul play was not involved. I am not sure how i would have handled it, but it was pretty much just bones at that point so probably not as freaky as a fully decomposing body. At least the family had some closure.

The most common thing for me to find is Gu packs on the trail and shoes on the side of the road. I have no idea why there are so many shoes beside the road. I'd say a few are little kids kicking them out the car window for fun and a couple of the boots are surely from contruction or concrete guys that shove thier boots between the cab and bed of the truck.... There are still so many more that I can not account for. I have found a few cutting tools that were usually broken left behind from trail work. And some dropped water botles.

Commuting to work a couple of years ago I found a wallet that held a green card and a few other pieces of paper. At work I researched the potential owner and made a phone call. Turns out the husband said his wife did not know this was missing from the glove box of their car. She had left it in the car in their driveway. They were VERY thankful for its return, and a day after meeting with them to return the wallet -- and more importantly the green card -- they brought a box of chocolates to my house as a thank you. When I first gave them the found goods they asked how they could thank me. I said to be kind to cyclists on the road and to send that message to all who they know.
