Did the vendor's specs publish a weight limit? I know that my Rans V3 was spec'ed at a weight limit of 275# in the 2008 steel frame, but the 2009 aluminum version had a 325# weight limit.

What brand and model is it? Most bikes that aren't lightweight XC bikes, that are from reputable companies, can handle 250 pounds easily. Of course, it depends on what you do to it. Hucking and downhill might not be a great idea.

You might have to keep a good check on the chain and casset as the weight will cause more wear on them. I rode 3500 miles on my aluminum bike last year and it has 700x28 tires and I weighed 249 at the start of the year. With the biger tires your bike should absorbe more shock and put less strain on the frame. Ride it till the wheels fall off
