I ride alone, at least 40 miles on a dedicated bike trail saturdays. My husband is my SAG and there are miles in between his stopping points. He tracks me on "find my iphone", however there are places where the cell service is slim to none. Any suggestions?

One of the most reliable tracking service is SPOT (http://www.findmespot.com/en/index.php?cid=100). It uses satellite tracking so as long as you have an unobstructed view of the sky, you can broadcast your location.

There are other cheaper alternatives but they may not be as reliable.

I'd agree with Tru. The iPhone does a pretty fair job to be honest. I think your issue , as Tru states, maybe a line of sight with satellites and SPOT would not be a cheap alternative to/for the hobbyist although a hundred buxs a year( or 10 buxs a month) might be worth the peace of mind.

I have a friend that did the Ride the Divide and they used ( actually I believe it's required )this.
