I'm still in the big city unfortunaley, it is 80+ degrees out and for some reason everyone has a scarf on.

Did I miss something? I've lived in Texas my entire life and have never needed a scarf.

Am I at the point where I'm an old man who doesn't understand fads?

I see those stupid glasses, the ones without lenses these stupid things V.

Why?

Arghh.

A guy at work has one. And a fauxhawk. When I was in high school, we grew our hair long and cut the sleeves off our Iron Maiden shirts. Well, until I found out I could get more ladies with Bugle Boy khaki pants and a haircut. But I outgrew the bad fashion by graduation. No explaining kids today.

Q: How many hipsters does it take to change a lightbulb?

A: It's a really obscure number. You probably never heard it before.

The keffiyeh/shemagh/campaign scarf (basically a square cotton scarf with a checker pattern, usually of two different colors) fad started around the same time as the war in Iraq. It would appear that the amount of poor fashion trends rise in direct proportion to the unpopularity of a particular armed conflict...just don't ask me how. A few other examples of this would include trendy camouflage cargo shorts (usually of the cut-off variety), the prevalence of combat-style boots, and my personal favorite: dog-tag-esque necklaces typically worn outside of the shirt. Granted my theory is not much more than an opinion, I nonetheless feel it is supported by ample "scientific" evidence: Simply cruise through most any college campus and you will undoubtedly spot a number of individuals sporting camo shorts they did not wear as part of any uniform, accompanied by a Middle Eastern scarf they did not receive/purchase/wear in any part of the Middle East, with a necklace hanging out of their shirt bearing none of their personal data.

+10 pts for jousting any of the above individuals while mounted on your bike of choice and proclaiming "THIS IS SPARTA!!"

Mike's Hard Lemonade comes in four packs, which stow nicely in cargo shorts. Given the choice between a single beer from a casino bar, or a four pack of Mike's from the Mesquite WalMart, I'll take Mike's every time.

Hey you're on to something here. How about cargo shorts with waterproof cargo pockets so you can drop in a little ice to keep the Mikes cold? We'll make millions!

Nigal, at every bike show I've been to, I come home with foam stubby holders. Slip them over the bottles, and they stay cooler longer, and don't clink when you walk.
