What's your worst/heaviest crash? I haven't had a real bad tumble since bmx riding in college when I broke my wrist. Kinda gave me a good scare so I haven't been taking too many risks the past 10 years or so. I try to be careful for my wife and kiddos....they need me around!

But I would like to hear some of your crashing experiences! Anybody been involved in a crash involving more than just yourself and your bike? 2 bikes? A tree? A telephone pole? Someone on foot?

my worst crash

I was flyng down a fire road & tried to bunny hop a 24 inch log landed right in front of it. Flipped landed about 20 feet from the log on my face, gave my self a concusion. road rash down the front that look like a car rode over my face. made me a little afraid of down hills but I learn how to ride up hills which gave me a great advantage over my friends & fellow racers

I've had a couple of pretty good ones. I was trying to jump the gap over a traffic island in a parking lot on the bmx. The side I was jumping from was slightly downhill so it threw off my jump timing a little. I ended up clipping the island with my rear wheel... Then it was OTB and sliding accross the pavement as my tuck and roll idea did not go as planned.

I narrowly avoided a trip into the creek as I was trying to play catch-up going down a hill. The problem with that was the quick turn to go back up the hill... I locked up both wheels and slid into about a 12" diameter tree with my shoulder. I never put a foot down but the impact was enough to cause both feet to come unclipped, break one of my seat bolts, bend the seat rails, and leave a bark-impression on my shoulder for over a week.

Then there was the scooter... When I was about 5, i was riding my 12" wheeled scooter down the hill by my house, turned into my neighbors driveway, and slid out on the gravel at the beginning. That led me to a spinning slide on my bare palms and knees for about 12 feet on the rough pavement that followed. I picked gravel out of my knees for hours and nearly 20 years later I still have scars from that.

Yikes, BigDumbBear! You've been in some killer crashes! I've been in plenty of falls where I've received scratches and bruises but once when I was 15 I did break my wrist. I don't remember exactly what trick I was trying to show of to my friends, as it has been so long ago but I do remember the pain very vividly!

i haven't had any bad crashes, although friday i wheelied down a steep ditch, then my front tire landed into a soft dirtpile. otb i went. bike landed on top of me bruising me right above my left cheek. lol.

a couple years ago, i was riding with two friends. one buddie drove off the sidewalk, but his front tire came right off. his forks dug into the street and otb he went! his forehead smashed right into road, and he broke his glasses. pretty funny, but not at the time. i've also collided a couple of times with friends playing chicken, but never got really hurt.

No serious crashes. I've only had stupid / goofing around injuries.

Just starting on a trail, heading across a dry creek bed, messing around getting comfortable not paying attention. Front wheel stopped and I slowly rolled over the handle bars and broke my left hand.

Who hasn't bloodied their shin/calf and felt really stupid on their first trek out with clipless pedals? I did it on the side of a ravine giving everyone a pretty good laugh.

Just when V-brakes came out, put my first set on for a ride in CO. They were super sensitive compared to canti-lever brakes. My left hand twitched and my front tire made contact with a larger rock at the same time and I did a Peter Pan over the handle bars going about 25mph.

I'm too much of a wimp to play chicken. I won't put myself in potential harm like that but I've done things very similar to the above stories in my past years of riding. It's true, it's all part of the game.

I've had a few decent bike crashes over the years...

Worst one broke my left leg/ankle in 6 spots. Week in the hospital and the summer on crutches.
Good thing was that a week later a friend crashed his motorbike and broke his right leg.
We spent the summer in the stripclub, on crutches and medical compo. :D

Other than that, just the usual concussions/fingers/toes/ribs that any DHer gets...

I was testing out an old mountain bike my parents had in the garage, somehow I couldn't stop and I ran into a curb going straight at it. I flew over the handlebars then the bike sort of did a flip in the air and landed flat on top of me... don't ask me the physics but I remember ending up under the bike...

My worst crash was in 1995 while I was riding with two friends in Germany. We were in a tight pack. I was in the lead with the other two on either side of me, right off my back wheel. As we rode through an intersection, a car came flying through from the right. I never saw it until it was too late. I have a vivid memory of watching the car approach from about 5 feet away. My right leg barely cleared the right side of the car before it smashed into my rear wheel/chain stays and sent me flying. I landed on my head and shoulders with my bike on top of me. My two friends were hit broadside.

All three of us survived with no major damage to our bodies - just scrapes, bruises and cuts, however the three bikes were toast. To this day, I am very leary of cars coming out of side streets.

I haven't been in any really serious crashes, the worst were when I was a kid...just some scrapes and bruises. I guess the worst was when I was flying down a really steep hill and went over the handlebars, but somehow I wasn't seriously injured with that one. I still have the scars on my knees, though :D

I don't remember the exact cause of my wreck, but when I was a kid, I went OTB into a curb head first. I had a concussion and amnesia, but it wore off after a few hours. I've only sustained cuts and bruises since.
