coming from a fire/rescue background, the "sparkie fire starter" makes me wonder about you. . .
Weird, my shrink said the same thing! :D

No picture yet. Dropping my son's bike off at the shop tomorrow. While he's away at band camp, I'm getting a new Ultegra rear derailleur installed for him. Currently has a 105, but everything else is ultegra. It's his birthday present, so I can't say no, can I? LOL

Not really, I ended with an entire bike for my son's. Best of luck and I'm sure he'll enjoy the upgrade.

My new Allen bike rack came in last night. I am very impressed with how small the rack is folded and the aluminum construction. I have not had the chance to mount it on the Murano yet but I will post photos again. View attachment 17333 View attachment 17334 View attachment 17335 View attachment 17336 View attachment 17337

My son has the same rack and it fits on his 99 Buick century. He just doesn't like the Velcro for the straps. But nice and compact and easy to install and uninstall once it's set. One strap is all he has to tighten or loosen.

Only thing about racks like this nowadays is...........most hatches have a spoiler and the straps have to go over that to get to the top edge where they cling. Depending on the setup, and how many or what kind of bikes you are hauling, could cause issue pulling on the spoiler. I rarely use my saris bones rack anymore because of the spoiler on the back of the RAV4 & the one on my Protege5. Truck is easier anyway but would use the trays attached to the factory roof racks on the other 2. Of course, that wouldn't be issue for a buick century tho.........

I guess these things have a habit of snowballing? While it's there, we opted to swap out his rear cassette for a new ultegra 11-28. And of course, if we're doing that we should really put a new chain on it as well.

I look at it this way......he's 15. If he decides to stop riding it, I'm building myself a beautiful bike ;)

I picked up a set of Dura Ace C35 carbon clinchers along with a new 11-28 11sp cassette and some Continental Grand Prix 4000s II's... Sweeeeeeeeeet looking, and light.... 8oz lighter....

The wheel set was 25% off at Competitive Cyclist. New cassette and tires makes it so I can switch if I want...

Looks like they have an aluminum brake surface, yes?

Rola, yes they do have aluminum brake surface. I was tempted to get this Shimano wheelset before ultimately deciding on the Zipp Firecrest 202 because I wanted my carbon wheels to be completely black and did not like the look of the shiny brake tracks on the Shimano wheels (plus Xela's high opinion of the Zipp 202 did not hurt in my decision either).
